12/14/2023 0 Comments Fishing planet kayak tips![]() ![]() On sunny days, we typically experience a day breeze that will pick up throughout the afternoon and can make the paddling on our afternoon trip more challenging. The water tends to be calmest in the morning, which is why we suggest the morning tour if your schedule allows it. We typically spend a total of about 2-2.5 hours kayaking on this trip. Based on tides and timing, we’ll either discover unique critters in the tide pools, enjoy the beach, or take a short hike past towering sitka spruce with deep green sphagnum moss hanging from their branches.Īfter our break on land, we will get back in the kayaks and paddle back to Lowell Point, load up the kayaks, and drive you back to our downtown office in Seward. ![]() We often stop to explore Tonsina Point or one of the small beaches nearby. ![]() Half way through the tour we will get out of the kayaks, have a snack and hot drink, and stretch our legs. Our destination will vary depending on the day’s conditions and the speed of the group, but your guide will choose the best option for your trip. ![]() There is a lot to see along the way, and we always keep an eye out for wildlife. We’ll paddle along the western shoreline of the bay, learning about the importance of the area, including its animals, plants, and ecosystems of the coastal rainforest and intertidal zone. Your guide will provide a safety and paddling talk to ensure everyone feels comfortable in their boats before you launch into the turquoise green waters of Resurrection Bay. Next, we will drive as far south as the road allows to the launch beach at Lowell Point (3 miles from our shop), unload our gear, and prepare the kayaks. Join us at our downtown office 15 minutes prior to the start time of your tour to meet your guide, gear up, and get ready for the trip. ![]()
